"Flame
is to fire as Mission is to Church."
"The
Church doesn't have a Mission, the Mission has a Church."
We
wouldn't be a church if we ignored our call to be involved in bringing
a glimpse of God's realm to our neighbors near and far. We are actively
engaged in mission, with opportunities for our members and friends
to "put legs to their prayers". We are founding members
of the Cooperating Churches of Greather Plymouth, an ecumenical
organization made up of 13 churches in and surrounding the city.
Jointly we hold the CROP Walk for Hunger; support the Good Samaritan
Fund for transients and disaster victims; hold community Thanksgiving
Eve Worship, and the Christmas walk; and conduct healing services
on a regular basis. We are also members of Sheboygan County Interfaith
Organization (SCIO). SCIO is a justice ministry that offers our
members opportunities to transport the needy to medical appointments
and the grocery store. To help in renovation of homes for the poor;
to provide skills, through education, for those needing an occupation,
or life skills, or a high school degree. The Beyond Charity program
is a comprehensive approach to do more than reach out with a handout,
but to be active participants in transforming the lives of the "least
of these our brothers and sisters."
